2010 Tax Return – Free Filing and Tax Preparation
The preparation for taxes are sometimes confusing but through Tax Aide program, many taxpayers in lower and middle income tax brackets are allowed to use free preparation or electronic filing of their 2010 tax returns.
This program was developed with the cooperation of IRS, Swisher County RSVP and AARP Foundation. The purpose of Tax Aide was to provide computerized preparations of 2010 tax forms by people trained and authorized by the IRS. It’s almost six year where the Swisher County RSVP started to offer this income tax preparation assistance.
In order for you to book a session call the Swisher County at 806-995-2104.
Before the appointment make sure you bring the following documents:
• Last year’s income tax return
• Bring your social security cards and Tax Identification Numbers include your spouse or any dependents.
• Birth dates of everyone that is included in your return.
• Wages, salaries and earnings (W2s, 1099R)
• Any interest or dividend statements (1099 Interest and 1099 Dividends)
• All the receipts for medical expenses or charitable contributions.
• Proof of taxes paid in your property
• Amount paid for daycare services including tax identifications of the providers
• Expenses for education including any information about student loans
• Proof regarding received unemployment compensation
According to Dorthy Norris, RSVP volunteer with the Tax Aide program, "Bringing needed information to your appointment will speed the process, save you time and also can save money,"
Norris included, any residents who are due a tax refund will get them much faster using e-filing compared to mailing the forms.
"Also, if you allow the IRS to make a direct deposit into your bank account, the refund could be in your account in about two weeks."
